MARCIA HARRIS FOUNDATION

The Marcia Harris Foundation was created in loving memory of our late hero, Marcia Harris, by her son, Sage Harris, to honour her legacy and shine a light on the countless lives she touched, helped, and saved throughout her life. Marcia’s impact reached far beyond her immediate circle; touching the homeless, single parents, families, friends, community leaders, and strangers alike. She lived a life of quiet service, changing lives without ever seeking recognition.

This foundation exists not only to preserve Marcia’s legacy, but to appreciate, uplift, and recognize those who continue the work she believed in; especially immigrants and families who have given their lives on the front lines building and strengthening communities, often without acknowledgment.

Marcia Harris was born in St. Ann, Jamaica in 1965 and immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1980. She worked at CIBC and dedicated over 20 years of her life to social work, serving people from all backgrounds with compassion, dignity, and respect. Where someone came from never mattered to her, only that they needed help.

Despite facing her own hardships while raising two children and living with limited means, Marcia carried her struggles in silence and let her actions speak louder than words. She fed people from her own fridge, opened her home to those in need, and continued to find ways to help others even when she herself was searching for stability. Her life was a testament to selflessness, resilience, and unconditional love.

Through this foundation, Marcia’s spirit lives on reminding us that true greatness is found in service, and that one person’s compassion can change generations.
